'Ireland Reads' Thursday 25th February

Ireland Reads is a new National Day to celebrate reading.

When: This Thursday, 25th February, people of all ages are asked to get reading.

Why? Because taking some time to relax and do the things you enjoy is important to help look after your mental wellbeing.

How to be involved? At school the children love DEAR time - Drop Everything And Read! Ireland Reads initiative encourages adults and children to enjoy DEAR time at home too, drop everything, pick up a book, a magazine, a newspaper, and Read!

Take the Pledge: You and your child(ren) can also take the pledge, by deciding how long you will 'squeeze in for reading' on the 25th February. Take the pledge with lots of more people around the country, on www.irelandreads.ie - it might be a fun motivator for everyone to read.

This campaign, supported by our President, Michael D. Higgins, is a public libraries initiative, in partnership with publishers, booksellers, authors and others under the Government's 'Keep Well Campaign'.

So let's get reading this Thursday! For more information see www.irelandreads.ie

Reminder: While the libraries are closed you can still borrow books using the Borrow Box Service. Library membership is completely free and you can easily join online. All library members have access to a range of online library services including more than 48,000 eBooks and 33,000 audiobook, 4,000 magazines and 2,400 online newspapers from over 100 countries
