Message from the Principal

Dear all,

I hope that you are all safe and well this evening. As 2020 draws to a close, we as a society are asked again to work together to implement public health guidance to prevent further spread of the Corona-19 virus to our more vulnerable members. Taoiseach Micheál Martin's address to the nation this evening has confirmed that our country is returning to more severe level 5 restrictions from close of business tomorrow in response to a concerning increase in daily positive case numbers. During his address he also announced that schools will not reopen until Monday the 11th of January 2021.

All of the management and staff of Salesian PS look forward to welcoming our pupils safely back to school in the New Year. Our preference is for Salesian PS to remain open for our pupils to learn in person along with each other. We are ready for remote learning to take place and we will organise for learning resources to be collected should this prove necessary. However, we are confident that the daily implemented protocols of our school including the cleaning regimes have already been proven to be very effective at preventing the spread of the virus within the school itself. As educators, we also know that in-class teaching and learning is superior to its virtual counterpart. We hope to see you on Monday the 11th of January 2021.

I will be in contact with you all again early next week and in the meantime please know that I am sending you all my very best for the remainder of this Christmas Season.

As we ring in 2021 with hopes of an end to this roller-coaster of a year, please follow the guidelines to play your part in keeping our school open.
