Message from the principal

Dear parents and guardians,

Communication is very important at this time and I fully recognise that remote learning presents many challenges for the families in our Salesian PS community. Therefore, I encourage you to please make us aware of any difficulties which may be arising with your experience of remote learning in order for us to work together to find solutions to any problems that are occurring. All of my colleagues are fully aware that juggling home life, schooling and work is not an easy undertaking. We are here to support you as we aim to maintain our pupils' educational progress. We do not wish for any of you to become overwhelmed. We have phenomenal pupils here in Salesian PS who were working very well in the four months leading up to Christmas. Let us work together now to support them and you during this period of remote learning.

Tomorrow, teachers will be meeting in the afternoon to review this week and to facilitate collaborative planning to support the remote learning of our pupils. Therefore, may I ask that if you have any questions for your child's teacher please contact them before 1 pm?

These may be borrowed through the school for the period of remote learning. Please contact Ms Rea at This email address is being protected from spambots. Delivery of SEN during this period of remote learning:
At present Special Education Teachers have been in contact with families of pupils with SEN in the school this week. Resources have been compiled and collected, delivered or posted. Plans for the provision of online and additional support have been agreed with parents. Learning is occurring. Should further clarification be given to the school around the provision for SEN as it pertains to our pupils, this will be shared with our families.

Book and resource collection:
Please know that the availability of books and resources for this period of remote learning is merely due to permission by the department to do so- without any deeper meaning.
Many thanks to the staff for all the work they have put in last week and over the last weekend to organise and help with the distribution of books and resources to families. It was also lovely seeing so many parents during the book collection.
As of today we have 100% collection, delivery or planned collection [two pupils] of our pupils' books and resources. This is a good reflection on how our Salesian Community works together for the benefit of your children / our pupils.

Returning books and resources to school:
Books and resources will return to school with the pupils. This will be organised via GoogleClassroom / email by class teachers over a number of days depending on the weight of the resources to be returned. Teachers will prioritise the order of the books returning to school.

Book Rental:
At the beginning of the school year, families may choose to buy all their child's books or they may join the school's book rental scheme. The amount to be paid to join the scheme is on your child's booklist. These are available on the school website [] under the tab for parents. Books on the book rental scheme may only be given to pupils whose family have paid the book rental fee. It is important that your child looks after rented school books and keeps them in good condition so they may be used again the following year by another pupil.

The normal school calendar remains in place for this term:
