Salesian's Summer Writing

How do children learn to write? By writing.  Here are some ideas to encourage your son or daughter to write this summer:

  • Join this fun Writing Summer Challenge that has lots of appealing writing topics for our budding writers! Unleash their creativity and look forward to being wowed by their literary works!
  • Use a 'free writing' copy to write about anything he/she feels like. Always having writing materials nearby for children, such as pencils, crayons, paper, can encourage writing.
  • Keep a diary/journal to write about summer adventures
  • Choose a relative or friend to regularly write a letter or postcard to. An Post have postcards available at the moment that can be posted for free to anywhere in Ireland!
  • Involve your child in functional, everyday writing tasks such as writing the weekly shopping lists or writing out a recipe.

Wishing you all a happy summer, jam-packed with lots of creative writing!
