Senior Infant Sporst

All Senior Infant classes had a fantastic day in Shelbourne Park on the 21st June where we enjoyed our Sports Day. The day was split into three sections (playground, football and races) and every class enjoyed time at each station. For small lunch, we picnicked beneath the trees. There was some drizzle towards the end of the day, but we didn't let the rain dampen our spirits!

We are very grateful to the 6th Class girls who got the opportunity to develop leadership skills in facilitating the races. Among the highlight of the events was the three-legged race and a beanbag toss. The 6th Class did a great job of grouping pupils, sharing instructions and demonstrating activities.

All three teachers were pleased to see that Seniors were kind to the babies and toddlers in the playground, giving the younger children lots of space to use the equipment. There was great turn-taking and all pupils made lovely lines, waiting patiently to use slides, swings and climbing apparatus.

Lots of goals were scored (and saved!) at the soccer station. Some classes lined up for penalty practice and some groups showed great tactics on the pitch, working together to pass and dribble.

It was a very active day and we all went home exhausted after having lots of fun together. Thanks to everyone for making it special!
